-NBE licensed Metemamen MFI – February 6, 2002
-Actual operation started in April 2002
Mission
Alleviating poverty by responding to the financial needs of as many active
poor as possible, through an autonomous sustainable microfinance institution.
Objectives
Through the village banking, small solidarity group and individual lending methodology ( 2007 – 2011)
-Extend loans to about 40, 000 active clients( at least 75% women)
-Mobilize savings
-Reach operational and financial sustainability towards the end of 2008
Operational Areas
Metemamen is currently operating in Oromia and SNNPRS.
-Four branch offices and 11 operational sites
-Fifth branch office to be opened in Harar shortly

Shareholding company
-9 shareholders
-60% of shares belong to ECC – SADCO ( Ethiopian Catholic Church
Social and Development Commission)
-40% of shares is divided among 8 shareholders
The Board has 5 members elected from among the 9 shareholders
